Let The Shopping Begin!

I hope everyone ate their fill this Thanksgiving holiday because I certainly had mine. I read somewhere in the paper today that the average weight gain of college students over the Thanksgiving holiday is 1.1 pounds. I don't think that this is too bad, because I'm almost certain that the weight gain over the various December holidays are much more significant.

But everyone knows that there is some hope to burning all that recently gained weight by partaking in largest shopping day of the year: Black Friday. Normally over the past couple of years I have tried to avoid this rush of adrenaline, but this year I'm going to give in once again and try to take advantage of some really sweet deals. I'll let you all know what I get a bit later. Until then, adieu, and happy shopping to you.

It's About Dom Time!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Well, as most of you know with all the buzz going on about Gears of War, it's finally out and today I had a chance to play about five hours into the game. I finished the first two acts and started the first chapter of the third before I had to leave for work. I played hooky today and skipped out on my drawing class to play, but I'm allowed three absences, so I should be alright. So far this game has exceeded my expectations and I can't wait to get back home to finish the rest of the campaign. When I get off work tonight, you know where to find me. I think the only thing this game lacks is color (part literal and part sarcasm), and if that doesn't bother you, then you definitely need to pick up your own copy A.S.A.P. Speaking of picking up copies, let me tell you an interesting story:

So I reserved a limited edition copy with EB games and they had told me that they were going to have it for the midnight release last night. Well, I got a call on my cell phone from an automated telling machine that told me there was an important message from EB games and then it cut off. So to clarify, I drove to the store and asked them what was going on. Well it turned out that they weren't going to have the game in for the midnight release, and that they had paid to have it shipped overnight so that it would available tomorrow by the time the store opened. So I drove home and pouted about it awhile and then decided to I play some of FEAR.

I woke up this morning and drove out to EB games to pick up my copy and was met yet again with disappointment. Apparently FedEx shipped all the games they ordered overnight to all the EB/Gamestop stores in Michigan, because apparently Omaha, Nebraska is in Michigan now. I called my boyfriend today and he told me that all the EB/Gamestop's orders didn't get shipped to Lincoln, Nebraska either. I think the employees at FedEx need to go back to Elementary School to learn their 50 States over again. You fail this time FedEx, you fail hard...

So since I've been waiting for this game to come out for like ever, I couldn't stand the waiting anymore and went to a local gaming store called GAMERS that was close-by and picked up a limited edition copy. Thank goodness I only put five dollars down to reserve it at EB games. I lost my five dollars out of this whole ordeal, but oh well...I have a sweet game instead.

I can’t wait till Emergence Day, this Sunday which should be a very fun-filled evening with lots of playing and prize winning. One skilled and lucky player will win a really kick-ass guitar. I’ve been in the market for an electric guitar recently, and this might make a great companion to my acoustic-electric guitar. I guess I need to do some serious practicing before Sunday, but I can only hope…

Oh, and if you're wondering what the "Dom" thing is all about, one of the main characters (who is playable through the co-op campaign) is named Dominic Santiago. Some of the Xbox 360 achievements for this game are nicknamed like this as well, such as: "Dom-curious," which is to complete one co-op chapter as Dominic Santiago on any difficulty.

Well, hopefully you’ll get around to picking up your own copy if you already haven’t. One thing’s for sure is that this game will definitely tide me over until Halo 3’s release, for which I reserved the Legendary Package. Good thing EB games is switching to UPS, otherwise I might go crazy if that doesn’t come in on time either.
