Sunday, November 30, 2003 Grandma:Finally I have something to blog about! Now where to begin.... Okay...how about when I came home Tuesday afternoon. I pulled up to my house and it seemed like something was missing...and it really was! Storming into the house I curiously asked where the old truck was because sometimes my dad loans it out to friends who need to haul some stuff. Well to my surprise, my truck wasn't being loaned out at all...in fact it was being owned...my parents sold it to the lady who cleans our house once a month. Actually, her husband bought it, and gave it to their son because he totaled their last vehicle...he better not hurt my baby! ...well now I guess it's really none of my concern any more. The next day my mom gave me $100 and I went Christmas shopping and did what I do best....compulsive shopping! I happened to purchase Final Fantasy X-2 for myself and I am currently about halfway through the game already thanks to 23 hours of my life having been sucked away by playing the game. The game is basically a re-hash of the old game...which is to be somewhat expected. The battle system is completely new and shall we say...original... My mom said I have to wrap up my game and take it to my grandma’s house for Christmas and pretend like I never played it at all...it’s an aesthetic thing I guess. I did buy other presents for other people too…hehe. I also bought some birthday presents for my mom for Saturday. I got her some romance novels and some other cool book-related things. That was my first time to buy a romance novel, and I must say, it was rather interesting to look at the facial expression of the cashier and the others around the check-out counter. Then I heard the cashier speak, “We don’t get too many people your age buying these types of books.” I replied, “It’s for my mom, she’s really into this stuff”…but in the back of my mind I was saying, “You moron! Not everyone who buys a romance novel wishes to read it themselves and books are many times given as gifts - and for another matter…its Christmas shopping season!” Stupid cashier… After dealing with the moron, (hehe) I went back home, chilled, and played some FFX-2. We had our church’s annual Thanksgiving Eve service and I invited Sylvia (my friend from Hong Kong I met at UNO summer school). Turns out she is actually Christian and she wanted to come along. It was nice to see some of my church friends back from college…some stayed the same and some well…didn’t. Later after the service I found out that Sylvia didn’t have anything to do on Thanksgiving Day since her family is in Hong Kong, so my family and I invited her to spend Thanksgiving with ours. We then hung out at Adam Sinley’s for the remainder of the night and watched some Tenacious D Music videos…they were really hilarious! I gave Adam his belated birthday present and we all had a few laughs…let’s just say I got him a few gag gifts – some crazy boxers and some “other” stuff…hehe. I took Sylvia home and went back to playing FFX-2. Woke up late in the afternoon and got ready to go over to my aunt and uncle’s house for dinner. I took Sylvia over along with some of the food and my parents soon followed with the Turkey. In my extended family each family brings certain items to the dinner and it eventually becomes a mountain of food. Anywho, we ate and sat around with our bellies on the verge of exploding. Meanwhile: my sister was at home with a cold so we all didn’t have to put up with her whimpering. Sylvia eventually headed home and so did I. I went home and…you guessed it…played some more FFX-2. My dad decided to go truck shopping and we went out to Blair to look around, and as soon as he saw this truck he never took his eyes off of it until we left the lot. I was happy in that I was the first to drive it before my dad since his neck is still healing. The truck was a red, extended-cab Chevy Silverado. It had a 1500 V-8 engine with dual exhaust and a bunch of other specials. I could just tell that by tomorrow we were going to have another truck in the family. Around dinner time I got a call from Peter and he told me to go over to Jason’s for some hot-tubing and the usual lounging about. We watched Terminator 3 and Shawshank Redemption. In-between that we sat in the hot tub and found it rather amusing that we could fit 10 people into a 4 person hot tub. We also found it rather amusing that when we got out of the hot tub steam came off our bodies as soon as it came into contact with the cold air and that much of the water that spilled out turned into ice. Also, the lack of water left in the hot tub due to all the mass displacement was rather amusing as well. Later I headed home and did the same thing I did for the last couple of days. My dad decided to finally buy the truck he was drooling over and traded in his car. It was my mom’s birthday so we all went out to Genji Japanese Steakhouse. Man, I love that place, especially the food – that’s why it’s so damn expensive. Afterwards I went over to Burke’s house to hang out and watch the extended version of The Two Towers. We found the secret video clip of the MTV Music Awards and that was so funny we had to watch it twice…hehe. I didn’t know Burke owned a turtle, and soon found out when I went to the bathroom and it was crawling around on the floor. Well anyway, during the movie we decided to raid Tyler’s house for his torte cake in pirate hats and swords. We definitely caught them by surprise and made off with the cake back to Burke’s house. Then when we got back, Tyler was already at Burke’s house trying to bring us some cake…hehe. Later on the pet dander from Burke’s dog got to me and I had to leave if I wanted to continue breathing. I went over to Tyler’s where there was less pet dander and hung out with the other group. I then went home and yeah…hehe. Woke up today and went to church and my dad showed off his truck. My family and I went out to breakfast at Le Pepe as we usually do every Sunday. I got $100 more from my mom and as if on cue I got a call from Megan who wanted to go shopping and I agreed. We looked around, got some coffee and then she spayed with old lady perfume that reminded me of something only my grandma would wear. While driving home we decided that the word “grandma” could be added into any song as we soon experimented. Man, why do I hang out with losers… :P Well now I’m back in L-town and I’m supposed to be writing a paper that is due tomorrow. But somehow I got dragged into decorating a Christmas tree with some of the rifle girls and Ayako…who reluctantly came along…hehe. Well, I think this post will make up for all the previous crappy ones and the lack of blogging. Believe it or not, a lot more wasn't added, but I need to start writing my Anthropology paper...and if you actually read this entire thing, I commend you…
Sunday, November 23, 2003 Turkey Time:I'm better, but still nursing the cold...at least the remnants of it. I don't think anyone reads these anymore, so I guess you all could really care less. Going back to Omaha on Tuesday night...yay for Thanksgiving Break...it should have come sooner though...a lot sooner. Hopefully I'll get to see a lot of you guys so that Peter won't be so jealous. :P Not much has happened since I've been sick the whole week. I played system link Halo with some of the guys in my building and built up a reputation in doing so. I also played a little Final Fantasy X-2...that's right kids...it's not even out in the United States yet, but one of my friends (James) reviews all the games for the gaming companies...mainly Sony. But anywho, he is my friend because he lets me play them...YAY! Hopefully my life will be more eventful now that I'm feeling a little better...physically and mentally... :P
Sunday, November 16, 2003 Eyes Wide Shut:Grr...I have this terrible cold and I think its going to turn into bronchitis, it usually does since I'm an asthmatic and any cold I get turns into something worse. I didn't have any DayQuil...so I took NyQuil...and currently I have taken two doses of NyQuil and one pill of NoDoze so I can stay awake on the job. So in otherwords...I have two competing medicines fighting over the alertness of my body...its a fun time...really... The cursor on this laptop is scary...it keeps floating off to the left and I'm not even touching it... I want a button to open up the door, Cather and Pound have that, why can't we? We want to be lazy too damnit! Total drunk count so far tonight: 11 Right now I have 117 total games played in Mahjongg...yeah... Yay for having clean socks and underwear!
Saturday, November 15, 2003 Laundry Load:The Huskers sucked it up big time today. My left index finger hurts...the nail pulled back and now I'm like missing half my nail...ouchy... I am currently doing my laundry for the first time in like 2 months...yes people...I have put it off that long. I finally realized I should do it because I ran out of socks and underwear...hehehe...I'm so lazy...and the fact that I really don't have time to do anything...I do, but not significantly. I am also currently addicted to this game: Mahjongg Solitare If you don't know how to play it, its fairly simple, just match up the symbols and they can't be touching on either side...or one side depending on where the tile is located. Anyway...you'll get the hang of it and I find it to be better than regular Solitare...but that's just me I guess...
Sunday, November 09, 2003 Finally Finding A Foot-Hold:I'm reliving my childhood and doing some latch-hook. I remember a while back when I was at my grandparent's house sitting on the couch doing latch-hook all day. Thanks to Wal-Mart, I could finally relive my childhood days for only 5 dollars...YAY! It's a lot more relaxing than I remebered it to be...maybe because I was an impatient child...and I still am...hehe. My homework assignments are getting smaller, but I don't want to jinx it... I have a few of my big projects done already, including a comic book I drew for my Mythology class. We each got assigned a play and I got Ajax by Sophocles. Yay for killing yourself! So anyway, instead of doing the boring oral report, my teacher said we could do anything we wanted. I figured I'd be a little more creative and do a comic book for all the visual learners out there...plus it's a lot more interesting than just sitting in class listening to someone drone on about a play. Well, as you all know, when I start something, all will go to all ends to finish it, and that's exactly what I did, and I will never do that again, unless I have a ton more time to do it in. It was deffinately a lot more work than I realized, eventhough it's only 5 pages total (front and back). Bah!...never again! Went to Omaha this weekend with Ayako. We saw Matrix Revolutions on Friday and hung out at Adam Sinley's house afterwards. On Saturday we went shopping for Adam's birthday present and headed off the Old Market. I promised Ayako I would take her down there sometime and I think she liked it. We had dinner at Spaghetti Works, went to the park-thingy with the really cool slides. There was some cardboard nearby, so we used it to race down the slides...man, I've forgotten how much fun it was...we all need to go to the Old Market as a group sometime and just walk around. It was awesome...well, at least I had a good time...I only hope Ayako did. Then we shopped around a bit and got some stuff. I got some buttons and one of them says: "Darwin was wrong...Men are still apes," and one of the others says, "Just because you can reproduce, doesn't mean you should." Man that is so awesome! Ayako got this calendar for her friend in Japan. Apparently they give calendars to each other every year. Well this year, her friend got a boyfriend so she got this calendar with 365 sex positions...one for every day of the year. That is so hillarious! After the Old Market, we stopped by Sylvia's (Ting) appartment. (My friend I met in summer school at UNO - who is from Hong Kong). We talked a bit and headed off for Lincoln. Well, we both got back to Lincoln and took a nap. It was then I realized that I had left my cell phone in Omaha...damn I'm stupid! So if you try to call it and I don't answer...that's why, and it's not because I don't love you...which I might...but it's not as likely this week... :P Back to Night-Clerking...
