Monday, August 23, 2004 Epic of the Night Clerk:It's been a struggle this past week with my job and the sorority. I worked a double Monday thru Friday from midnight to 8:00 a.m., then had sorority meetings for Spirit Week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. So you're probably saying to yourself, "then you can use the rest of your time to sleep." As good as that sounds, I never got to fully make use of that idea. As soon as I got back from the meetings various other things took priority like: helping people move into the dorms (like I promised), picking up my NCard and textbooks at the Union, and of course, more activities with the sorority. I think that during those five days I got about 7 total hours of sleep...and not all at once. But I guess I can't really bitch about it as much because I signed up to work, and nobody assigned me to work those times. Even so, it was all worth it (monotarily speaking). I've been watching the Olympics a lot lately. I can't say why, but in the back of my mind I feel somewhat ashamed for not watching at least one event the past summer and winter Olympic games. What I'm really looking forward to watching are the taekwondo tournaments, but the events don't even start until the 26th. Classes start today and I'm excited for a few of my classes. Let's just see how long that will last...I give it a couple of weeks. I have ten books for my Epic Tales class, and have already read three of the assigned books: The Iliad, The Odessey, and Theogeny. I've always wanted to read the Epic of Gilgamesh, and with this class, I'll finally have the excuse to do so. Normally, I won't read anything unless it's assigned to me. On a very, very, very rare occassion will I actually read a book "just for fun." I'm just one of those people who likes to write, but not read...and they always say that in order to become a better writter, you have to become a better reader. I should also mention I have selective comprehension...and this statement is therefore ignored (to a degree). Here's hoping for this semester...wish me luck...
Friday, August 13, 2004 Caffine:Just to let you all know, I finally moved into my dorm room at Cather. So you all need to come and visit me. I also got a new coffee maker, and am totally excited...yay for coffee. I just got done helping a few people move into their dorm rooms today and am over here at my friend John's (from field school) to celebrate...but for a different reason. John is in the reserves and will be sent out really soon...so we're having a party in his honor. :) I have some more to write, but I want to get back to partying. Peace.
