Sunday, January 30, 2005 Skill Polishing:So I guess a few things have happened since the 2nd of January huh? The latest news is that I'll be visiting Judith over Spring Break. So that means from now until then, Rachel will be polishing up on her German skills. Speaking of language skills, Rachel will also have to polish up on her Japanese as well because Ayako's mom is arriving in Lincoln on Monday. It will be so nice to finally meet her. :D Ayako has been going through some rough times lately and her mom just got a little worried about her, so that's why she's flying over here all the sudden. Whether or not Ayako will be going back to Japan with her mother is still being debated. :( Speaking of Japan, I got accepted to take part in the Senshu study abroad program...YAY! What's even cooler is that we leave September 15th and come back December 10th. And...we have a really long Fall Break: October 29th through November 5th...muahaha. On another note, this means Rachel will have to obtain a summer job and continue working until she leaves for Japan in September. Oh well, I guess I can always go back to Hector's where the kitchen workers always hit on me all the time, but when I think about it, it was the same way with all my previous jobs...oye. As for classes they are all going pretty good so far...being in the third week of them. Japanese is getting harder, but then again that's almost to be expected. We're starting to learn kanji, and it can get pretty difficult at times trying to memorize the ones that are being taught. Looks like Rachel will be doing lots of studying this semester. O_o Oh well, as long as the teacher keeps making the class fun, I really can't complain too much. :P
Sunday, January 02, 2005 "Nice To Meet Y...":Hmm...suppose I should update this thing. Got my grades back, four A's, one B+, and a Pass (in taekwondo). I got my blue belt...and since I did really good on my testing I got a black stripe. w00t. Christmas overall was good. Went out to my grandparents house and ate some really good prime rib. Got some good presents too. Most notably a cell phone and 200 watt amp for my truck. For my cell I got text messaging, photo messaging, and voice mail...finally. All I asked for were some new speakers, but apparently my parents decided that I needed an amp. But hey, if they gave it to me, I'll take it ;) Actually, it was probably the salesperson at StereoWest who convinced them to get it, they offered the same advice to me when I went in there myself. I must say though...ever since my amp was installed, the sound quality has risen dramatically. The speakers can't handle the bass sometimes though...perhaps subs are in order? Nah...I don't want to sacrifice my already negative space in the extended cab. Other than that, I got some clothes, books, and art supplies. Good stuff. New Years...ah yes...it sucked...royally. Probably the worst New Years I ever had. Went with Adam Sinley and J.P. out to Bobby's house in the middle of nowhere. Bobby really isn't my friend, more of an acquaintance. I met him through Adam and John. I had been out to his house before at least twice before for other parties. The best of the two was the toga party, that was really fun. But the New Years party...I just got a weird feeling from it, something about it's atmosphere just didn't seem right. I knew some people there from the parties before, but not that well. The only people I really knew were Adam, J.P., John, Kristin, and Adam Witte. Adam flirted with the girls while I was there, and I just felt like I was getting in the way. J.P. got a call from some girl and drove off to the party she was at in hopes of getting "something" I guess, John and Kristin flirted/fought most of the time I was there...Kristin really doesn't care for me anyways... I think they are going to get engaged soon. John is saving up for a ring, I know that much. Adam Witte was nice and hung out with me for awhile. I tried making casual conversation with other people, but got shunned soon after I said: "Hi, I'm Rachel. Nice to meet y..." I just sat around the entire time bored out of my mind and wanting to go home...and I did after midnight. I got invited to go over to Sam Miester's party, but I just didn't feel like going. I think I might have spent all my social engery on trying to make new, stuck-up people. My parents were off at another party, and so was my sister. So, I spent my New Years at home with my dog. But that's ok. I think I had a better time at home than I did at the party.
