Tuesday, February 06, 2007 Blue Balls:I apologize for the long gap between posts, but as most of you know by now, my life is full of daring adventures, classes, homework, and boring days at work. I’ll make up for it with this gargantuan post…well almost. I’ve recently upgraded in the computer department and purchased a new PC minus the hard drives (200GB total) and the CD/DVD drives, which were relatively sufficient for my needs to begin with. I bought all of the parts off of newegg.com, and somehow convinced my boyfriend to help me put it together. As we (mainly my boyfriend) were putting the computer together, we realized that we had ordered the wrong amount of RAM. Originally I wanted 1GB total that was supposed to be split 2x512MB, but instead I accidentally ordered 2x256MB to equal a total of 512MB. Sigh… I then got back online and ordered 2x512MB so now I’ll have about 1.5GB total, which is more and even better than what I originally planned to have. The grand total went a little bit over $500, and for what I got, that's pretty darn good. Case Processor Motherboard Video Card Power Supply RAM 2x256MB RAM 2x512MB In the game department, I’ve recently purchased Gitaroo-Man Lives! for the PSP. I have, or had the original Gitaroo-Man for the Playstation 2, until I loaned it out to one of my friends and haven’t seen it back yet. I have a pretty good idea who it was, and drastic measures might have to be taken for its retrieval. Eventhough I’ve beaten the game before, and its length is pretty short, all-around it’s a really fun game. I mean comon’ it probably has one of the best plots ever in a game or any story for that matter: Play the guitar, save the world. Other games I’ve reserved but aren’t currently playable in my collection are Crackdown and God of War II. I’ve been waiting for the sequel to God of War for quite some time and as for Crackdown, it’s a pretty fun Sandbox/RPG, but in all honesty, I really, really, really want to play the Halo 3 Beta. Almost all of the first box releases of Crackdown are pretty much guaranteed to have an invite to play the Halo 3 Beta. The rumor is that since the Beta invitation is on the disk, you have to insert the Crackdown disk in order to play the Beta. So what that means is, if you still want to play the Halo 3 Beta, you can’t sell the game back. That’s the rumor at least, more info on this later. Crackdown comes out February 20th, so if you want the Beta invite and a new, fun game to play for your 360, you better reserve it fast. I almost broke down the other day and bought the Guitar Hero II pack until I heard the news that Guitar Hero is coming out for the Xbox 360 with a newly-designed guitar. Awesome! Some other games I’m really looking forward to are Blue Dragon, the new “expansion” for Oblivion: Shivering Isles, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night’s re-release on the Xbox Marketplace which is also included along with Castlevania: Rondo of Blood in the newest Castlevania game for the PSP: Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. I’ve already been treated to many fun hours and adventures in Oblivion, so Shivering Isles shouldn’t be much of a disappointment. And as for the Castlevania games, I think they go without explanation just because they are/were plain awesome to begin with. And no, I didn’t forget about Blue Dragon… Blue Dragon looks like its pretty much the culmination of every good RPG ever made. I have my qualms with Akira Toriyama’s art style, which started getting old to me after Dragon Ball Z. Because his style is so popular in Japan, and it’s probably what made it so successful in the market, I’ll just have to deal with it. Despite all this, I'm pretty pumped for its release in the United States, which will include the option to choose the original Japanese voice track with English subtitles and of course the English dub...meh. And that’s all folks…for now.
